At present, it is a selective β1 receptor blocker which is widely used for high blood pressure, coronary heart disease, chronic heart failure and cardiac arrhythmia treatment,Metroprolol succinate is a conventional tablet of metoprolol , its elimination half-life is shorter than others, about 3 to 4 hours, so the plasma drug concentration fluctuation is great, and2 to 4 times daily medication is necessary. To overcome these disadvantages, AstraZeneca's recently introduced metoprolol succinate sustained-release tablet is a new depot metoprolol , once-daily medication can guarantee 24 hours of constant metoprolol plasma concentration and β1-receptor blocking effect .On clinical pharmacology and therapeutics ,it has many advantages. Clinically it is used for the treatment of hypertension, angina pectoris, chronic heart failure with left ventricular systolic dysfunction and stable symptoms. Oral, once a day, take preferably in the morning, it can be broken apart and taken, but you can not chew or crush,at least half a cup of liquid should be taken for delivery . At the same time food intake does not affect their bioavailability. Dosage should be individualized to avoid bradycardia. The following is an effective medication guide: high blood pressure: 47.5~95mg, once daily. Taking 95mg of metoprolol succinate sustained-release tablets may be ineffective in patients ,combine them with other anti-hypertensive drugs, preferably diuretics and dihydropyridine calcium antagonists, or increase the dose.
